Designed and written for those with no botanical training, this book comprehensively describes every naturally occuring eucalypt species in the goldfields region of Western Australia. This is a vast area between Western Australia's wheatbelt and Murchison regions and the South Australian border.
It includes the world-renowned Great Western Woodlands and the West Australian section of the Great Victoria Desert.
173 different species and subspecies have been recorded, which represents about 17% of all known eucalypts. This includes 46 eucalypts that are endemic to the region. Of these 173 eucalypts, 158 are described in detail over a double-page, featuring:
Images of the whole plant, bark, flowers and fruits
Characteristic features
Notes on how to identify the species
Detailed distribution map for the goldfields
Habitat details
Meaning/origin of the name
Seedling paintings by Ian Roberts
Detailed botaniccal description
The remaining 15 eucalypts extend marginally into the region and are only briefly described.
