Matt Stone, one of Australia's brightest young chefs, is returning home to WA to launch his new book The Natural Cook at Perth's newest cultural and community hub, The Goods Shed in Claremont, on the 19th of August.
Light refreshments will be served while Matt talks about the new book, his career as a chef, and his philosophy of low-waste, ethical and delicious food, before a Q&A and book signing.
That philosophy propelled Matt from Star Anise and Pata Negra to renowned eco-restaurant Greenhouse, then to Melbourne's zero-waste cafe Brothl and now to Oakridge winery in Victoria. It's led to many appearances on Masterchef, Iron Chef and Recipes that Rock. And it's driven him to put his best ideas down in a new cookbook, The Natural Cook.
It's all about cooking irresistible food without harming the planet – about opening your eyes to local and seasonal foods and putting them to use in the most delicious ways.
We've very excited about having The Goods Shed as a venue. The building was once a cargo shed for trains arriving at Claremont station, but languished unused for decades. Perth cultural non-profit Form has transformed what was previously a neglected corner of Claremont into a new home for community and creativity. We're thrilled to partner with Form to host one of the first events in the space.
This is a free event, but bookings are essential. Please contact FORM to reserve your place at this event on either thegoodsshed@form.net.au or 9226 2799.
