What seems like a straightforward story about a husband and wife becomes something much darker. Nick and Amy seem to have a happy marriage, but when Amy disappears on their anniversary, a series of discoveries reveal aspects of her life that Nick knows nothing about. Gillian Flynn’s writing grabbed me instantly and I read the book in a weekend – while the characters are all deeply awful people, you can’t help but be pulled down the rabbit hole to find out just how far they will go, and to work out just whose side you should be on. To say more would be to risk ruining the twists and turns! Even if you're not a fan of thrillers, this is just a must-read. The movie commences on October 2nd.
