'A brave heroine, secrets, and more adventure than we thought was possible to jam-pack onto a page.' Total Girl

The time has come to visit the forbidden island of Allay.

But first Lintang needs to find her captain, and it seems the only way to get to the Winda is to join - then escape - the Vierzan navy. Only then will Captain Shafira set sail for Allay, where the crew of the Winda must uncover what really happened to the country's missing ruler.

When disaster strikes, and Lintang is separated from her captain again, she and her friends must sneak through the heart of Allay, battle terrifying new mythies and overcome Captain Shafira's enemies to return to where they belong.

Lintang was left behind once. She won't let it happen again.

Recommended by Amy Hotz

Amy is a keen children’s book nerd and spends a lot of time reading and reviewing picture books with her toddler, Fenrir. But it’s not all colourful pictures! Her passion is getting kids reading, and her life's mission is to get the right books in the right hands. Ask her for advice or recommend something to her and watch her eyes light up!

Just when I thought Tamara Moss couldn't get any better, this fabulous sequel to Lintang and the Pirate Queen comes out. In Lintang and the Forbidden Island, Lintang is left waiting for Captain Shafira to come and get her, but the Winda has failed to show up. Worse! Her best friend Bayani has slipped away and left her behind. When Captain Kona, leader of the Vierzan navy states he has a contract for an apprenticeship for her, Pelita and Lintang once again head off on the high seas in search of adventure. Bigger, fiercer and more extraordinary mythies, a dark deception on the mysterious island of Allay and a truly epic discovery that had me reeling with anticipation for book three! Lintang has my absolute vote of approval and I recommend it to young and old who like a good adventure story with a bit of everything. Perfect for fans of Emily Rodda's Deltora Quest, those who might be lost on what to read next, or just want to sink their teeth into an amazing book.
