A coming of age story tackling entrenched patriarchy with a very subtle fantasy kick. Kalothia was bad-ass, quick-witted and refused to be dismissed just because she's a woman. This mystery, accompanied by a vicious betrayal and a hunky body guard, is a delight.
My favourite dystopian book! This is set in a world where technology has conquered death, and so to keep the population under control Scythes "glean' (kill) people. There's a god-like AI, amazing anaologies to religion and history and an absolute power that corrupts absolutely...
This book is the coolest thing ever! There's an interplanetary war, romance, an uncontrollable virus and an AI gaining sentience. PLUS it's told in texts/transcripts/lists etc and is super fast to read. Support two Australian authors, read an amazing brick of a book...it's a win-win!
I finished this trilogy in a week. Intensive world building, lore creation and creature manufacturing is all culminates in this epic fantasy with our world used as a diving board. Karou is an artist in Prague and collects things, languages for instance. But mostly teeth, and she delivers them through a door only she can access. 15+
An awesomely chilling mystery thriller to get you hooked on an author. At the start of each chapter, we have an email being composed. Each chapter you get a few more sentences added. When I tell you I have never been so creeped out by an email…Ben’s best mate has died after a pair of twins move into his little town. These twins are cool, and they seem to like Ben. They just won’t stop making bets… things get weird guys. Ages 12-16
